Step 1: Pass the Line Through Begin by passing the fishing line through the eye of the hook, lure, or swivel. Leave a few inches of line extending beyond the point of entry to work with.

Step 2: Create a Loop Form a loop with the free end of the line, bringing it back parallel to the main line. Hold the loop in place with your thumb and index finger.

Step 3: Wrap the Loop Wrap the free end of the line around the main line and through the loop you created. Make sure to wrap it at least 4-6 times, moving away from the loop and towards the end of the line.

Step 4: Tighten and Secure While holding the wraps in place, gently pull the free end of the line to tighten the knot. Simultaneously slide the knot towards the eye of the hook, lure, or swivel. Ensure that the wraps are snug and properly seated against the eye.

Step 5: Trim the Excess After tightening the knot, trim the excess free end of the line close to the knot, leaving a small tag end. This helps to prevent any interference while casting or retrieving. Click here to return to navigation!

Step 1: Double the Line Double about 6 inches of the fishing line, creating a loop by overlapping the doubled section over itself. Leave a sufficient tag end to work with in the upcoming steps.

Step 2: Pass the Loop Through Pass the doubled section and the loop you created through the eye of the hook, lure, or swivel. Make sure the loop is big enough to easily work with in the next steps.

Step 3: Tie a Simple Overhand Knot With the hook, lure, or swivel positioned inside the loop, tie a simple overhand knot. Take the loop and pass it over the hook, lure, or swivel, bringing it back towards the main line.

Step 4: Feed the Hook Through Carefully pass the hook, lure, or swivel through the loop of the overhand knot. Ensure that the entire hook, lure, or swivel passes through the loop completely.

Step 5: Moisten and Tighten Before tightening the knot, moisten it with saliva or water. This helps reduce friction and ensures a secure knot. Hold onto the hook, lure, or swivel and both tag ends, and pull them simultaneously to tighten the knot. Click here to return to navigation!
